Found by God

Colossians 2

Jeremiah 23:23-32

“Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the LORD.. –Jeremiah 23:24 (NIV)

As a father of seven children, I have played more than my share of peek-a-boo. I am always intrigued by how young children respond so powerfully to this little game. Their hearts delight in finding us and being found by us. Time and time again, our shouts of “peek-a-boo” are met with joyous squeals of excitement. Are they really always so surprised by our reappearance? Do they forget we were just right there in front of them?

I think sometimes we play this same game with God. We are amazed at the way He works in our lives, the way He provides for us, how He answers our prayers and leads and guides us. But our very prosperity leads us away to forget His faithfulness and love for us. The busyness of life and our proneness to wander both thwart our desire to be present with the Lord. And yet, at the most beautiful moments, He whispers to our hearts and reminds us that He is always walking right with us. He is there.

Dear Lord, remind me of Your love and faithfulness in small ways today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
